Christmas comes to Catford

The Christmas edition of the Catford Food Market is coming to Catford Broadway this Sunday.

This very special market will feature festive food, gifts and music and marks the true beginning of the Christmas season in Catford. The Christmas tree lights on the broadway will also be switched on!

As well as all your favourite food traders, including Raastawala, Brett and Bailey, Gaff and Pat & Pinky’s, the market will welcome new Catford vegan bakers Planted Pasty and local illustrator Nancy Ellis who illustrated both the House of Catford and House of Lewisham cookbooks, as well as a range of exclusive food related homeware.

Nancy will be selling a special festive greeting card which features her iconic Lewisham landmark design lit up for Christmas in the snow.

The House of Catford pop-up shop, which took over a vacant unit on Catford Broadway in summer, will be launching their festive hampers featuring nine exclusive collaborations with local business. The Refuge Café hamper will also be on sale with delectable goodies that include Syrian biscuits, Yemeni tea, pumpkin jam, chilli paste, chimichurri and pickled lemons. The hamper costs £30 and the proceeds will go to support refugees with the skills, community and encouragement they need to rebuild their lives. The organisation also helps those seeking asylum to overcome barriers by offering work experience, English speaking skills, social networks and a knowledge of the UK job market.

The market will be extended by an hour to finish at 5pm to accommodate the Christmas lights switch by the Mayoresses of Lewisham at 4:45pm followed by festive tunes by the Cats Chorus.
