Finalising the framework plan

Team Catford started the #CatfordConversation four years ago taking the time for everyone’s voice to be heard, sometimes formally and sometimes casually as we spoke to the residents in our pop-up shop House of Catford, breaking down the barriers that too often prevent people engaging in a regeneration discussion.

All the feedback gathered during conversations with residents and businesses in Catford has informed the Catford Town Centre Framework and identified the priorities for the Catford of the future. Three clear priorities have emerged and these provide the building blocks of the draft Framework - a green town centre, a vibrant town centre and an accessible town centre .

Before it is finalised, we’d like to hear what you think about the framework plan.

These sessions will be held on:

Thursday 10th December, 6:30-7:30 pm

Saturday 12th December, 10-11am

Thursday 7th January, 6:30-7:30pm

Saturday 9th January, 10-11am

Monday 11th January, 6:30- 7:30pm

Through our community engagement, we know there is enthusiasm for these changes. The re-routing of the south circular - a key move that will free up more space to reimagine the town centre and the redevelopment of the Catford Shopping Centre which will provide new retail space and new, affordable homes will be built across the town centre. Pedestrian-friendly areas, open spaces and new community facilities will also be created.

The ambition is for Catford to be one of the greenest town centres in London. Space will be prioritised to meet others, pause, unwind and play through a variety of quality spaces around the stations, the riverside and a new heart for the town centre.

The ecological corridor along the River Ravensbourne will be relinked to the River Pool Linear Park and Ladywell Fields, with river access points for the local community.

The area around the stations should be comfortable and inviting with space to gather and wait for trains with easy and pleasant connections to the town centre. New ideas will see this area improved in the next couple of years as one of the first projects to come forward as part of the town centre regeneration.
