Pop-up cinema returns to Catford

Catford’s annual outdoor pop-up cinema returns on Saturday 3 August in Catford Shopping Centre with a free screening of the 80’s comedy classic Coming to America.

Previous outdoor screenings include Flash Gordon, pedal-powered La La Land and Black Panther and this year’s event is the pre cursor to Catford Mews - the new permanent cinema opening in the shopping centre at the end of August 2019.

The night starts at 7pm with street food from Catfordians Jerk Off BBQ serving up full flavoured Caribbean fayre alongside the shopping centre’s newest tenants Benhue, also from Catford, offering American themed cuisine.

Catford’s favourite pop up shop Catford Cornucopia will also be there selling much coveted Catford t-shirts, hoodies and popcorn and lots more.

The audience is encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets or cushions to avoid ‘numb bum’ by sitting on the concrete floor. The guideline being ‘if you can carry it, then you can bring it’.

The film starts at 8pm sharp.

The free event has been organised by Team Catford, a team of specialists leading on community engagement and place-making on behalf of Lewisham Council.

They’re inviting everyone who lives, works, socialises, commutes or runs a business to have their say as Catford goes through its biggest change in decades.

Date: Saturday 3 August 2019

Time 7pm food and drink. 8pm film starts

Venue: Catford Shopping Centre, (outside Tesco) Winslade Way, Catford SE6 4JU
